LEED

LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environment Design) is a benchmark for the design, construction and operation of green buildings. It is a voluntary, market driven rating system developed in 1998 by the US Green Business Council in 1998. It aims to evaluate the sustainability of a building, including a review of site selection, energy, water efficiency, materials and indoor air quality. LEED projects are currently in progress in 41 countries, including Canada, Brazil, India, Mexico and the United Kingdom. See www.usgbc.org for further information.
